Acceptable Content & Community Standards Policy
Effective Date: May 2025 | Last Updated: May 2025
Jab We Wed, Inc ("JWW," "we," "us," or "our") is a South Asian wedding vendor marketplace connecting engaged couples with trusted vendors across North America. JWW operates as an online platform where couples planning South Asian weddings ("Couples") and vendors offering wedding-related products and services ("Vendors") — collectively "Users" — can discover, connect, and collaborate.
This Acceptable Content & Community Standards Policy ("Policy") applies to all content submitted to JWW, including vendor profiles, listings, photos, videos, reviews, messages, and any other user-generated content ("Content"). This Policy is incorporated by reference into JWW's Terms of Use.
By using JWW, you agree to comply with this Policy. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or termination, at our sole discretion.
1. Application and Enforcement
1.1 Scope
This Policy applies to all Users — Couples, Vendors, and visitors — across all JWW surfaces, including public listings, private messages, reviews, media uploads, and profile content.
1.2 Investigation and Enforcement
When we become aware of potential Policy violations, we will investigate as promptly as practicable. Our process includes:
- Reviewing the Content in context of the surrounding circumstances
- Requesting additional information from involved Users when necessary
- Applying enforcement actions proportionate to the severity of the violation
Enforcement actions may include content removal, account warning, suspension, or permanent termination. We also reserve the right to report illegal activity to law enforcement authorities. JWW is not liable for any action or inaction in the enforcement of this Policy.
1.3 Automated Filtering
JWW uses automated content filtering systems to detect and remove prohibited Content. These systems are informed by prior enforcement actions and machine learning. We acknowledge that automated systems may occasionally flag permissible Content or miss violating Content — human review supplements automated enforcement where appropriate.
2. Reporting Violations
Users may report violations of this Policy by emailing legal@jabwewed.com. We will review reports promptly and take reasonable steps to protect the identity of the reporting party where possible. Not all reports result in a Policy violation finding, and not all violations result in account suspension or termination. Reporting a User is not a guarantee of any specific outcome.
3. Vendor Listing Standards
All vendor listings on JWW must meet the following baseline standards:
3.1 Accuracy and Authenticity
- All business information — name, location, services offered, pricing ranges, and contact details — must be accurate and current.
- Photos and media must authentically represent the vendor's own work. Stock photography, watermarked competitor images, or AI-generated portfolio images misrepresented as real work are prohibited.
- Vendors may not misrepresent their category, credentials, awards, or years of experience.
- Listings must reflect services available in the geographic markets listed.
3.2 Prohibited Listing Content
Vendor listings may not include:
- Pricing that is intentionally misleading or designed to bait-and-switch Couples
- Claims of affiliation with JWW beyond standard marketplace participation
- Testimonials or reviews that were fabricated, incentivized, or obtained deceptively
- Content copied or scraped from other vendors without permission
- Links to external platforms intended to circumvent JWW's platform or payment process
4. Review and Rating Standards
JWW reviews are a critical trust signal for Couples. The integrity of our review system is non-negotiable.
4.1 Authentic Reviews Only
- Reviews must reflect a genuine first-hand experience with the vendor.
- Vendors may not solicit, incentivize, or coerce reviews — positive or negative.
- Vendors may not submit reviews for their own business through alternate accounts.
- Organizing coordinated review campaigns — positive or negative — against any vendor is prohibited.
4.2 Review Content Standards
- Reviews must be relevant to the vendor's services and the couple's actual experience.
- Defamatory, harassing, or knowingly false statements are prohibited.
- Reviewers may not disclose confidential business information shared in confidence.
- Reviews containing personal identifying information about vendor staff are subject to removal.
5. Prohibited Content and Activities
5.1 Illegal Activities
JWW prohibits Content that promotes, facilitates, or instructs in illegal activity, including but not limited to:
- Sale or promotion of controlled substances, illegal firearms, or stolen property
- Human trafficking, exploitation, or facilitation of prostitution
- Fraud, phishing, deceptive commercial practices, or unauthorized pyramid/multilevel marketing schemes
- Criminal harassment, threats, stalking, or intimidation
- Distribution of unsolicited bulk messages (spam) or unauthorized advertising
JWW also prohibits commerce in goods or services that are restricted or regulated under applicable U.S. law, including alcohol, prescription products, hazardous materials, and counterfeit goods.
5.2 Child Safety
JWW has a zero-tolerance policy for any Content that endangers, exploits, or sexualizes minors. This includes:
- Any depiction of child nudity, sexual exploitation, or abuse — real, illustrated, or digitally generated
- Content that grooming, facilitates access to, or endangers minors
- Content depicting minors in states of arousal, engaging in sexual acts, or as subjects of sexual entertainment
- Links to external sites containing prohibited content involving minors
We will immediately report any such Content we encounter to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant law enforcement.
5.3 Harassment and Abuse
Abusive or harassing behavior toward any User, vendor, couple, or JWW staff is prohibited. This includes:
- Targeted harassment campaigns against individuals or businesses
- Threats, intimidation, or coordinated efforts to silence another User
- Using JWW messaging to develop relationships for purposes of exploitation, trafficking, or abuse
- Doxing — publishing private or identifying information of any individual without consent, with intent to harm, shame, or threaten
5.4 Hate Speech and Discriminatory Content
JWW serves a diverse South Asian community spanning many religions, ethnicities, regional backgrounds, and identities. Content that demeans, threatens, or incites violence against any person or group based on race, religion, caste, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or other protected characteristic is prohibited.
This includes violent threats, dehumanizing language, slurs used to degrade, and imagery intended to promote hatred.
5.5 Graphic and Violent Content
JWW is a wedding planning platform. Content that is gratuitously graphic, sadistic, or shocking — including depictions of death, serious bodily injury, mutilation, or sexual violence — has no place on our platform and will be removed.
5.6 Impersonation and False Information
Users may not impersonate another vendor, individual, business, or organization. Creating false or misleading profiles, using another vendor's branding, or misrepresenting credentials are grounds for immediate account termination. We reserve the right to report fraudulent activity to law enforcement.
5.7 Self-Harm
Content that promotes, glorifies, or provides instructions for self-harm or suicide is strictly prohibited and will be removed. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please contact:
- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 (US)
- Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741
- International Association for Suicide Prevention: https://www.iasp.info/resources/Crisis_Centres/
5.8 Platform Integrity
Users may not engage in activity designed to disrupt, manipulate, or exploit JWW's technical infrastructure or marketplace mechanics. This includes unauthorized scraping, automated bots, hacking, exploiting software vulnerabilities, or using the platform to conduct off-platform transactions in violation of JWW's Terms of Use.
6. Cultural Sensitivity Standards
JWW is purpose-built for the South Asian diaspora. Our community encompasses Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, and secular weddings across dozens of regional cultures. We hold all Users to a standard of cultural respect:
- Content that mocks, stereotypes, or demeans South Asian cultural or religious traditions is subject to removal.
- Vendors must not market services in ways that denigrate specific religious ceremonies (e.g., Nikah, Anand Karaj, Hindu Pheras).
- Content that is culturally appropriative in a manner that is offensive to the communities depicted is prohibited.
We take reports of cultural insensitivity seriously. Context matters, and we will evaluate such reports with care and community input where appropriate.
7. Intellectual Property
7.1 Copyright
Users may only post Content they own or have the rights to use. JWW respects intellectual property rights and will respond to valid DMCA takedown notices. Vendors must have rights to all photos, videos, and audio they upload to their profiles. Repeated copyright violations will result in account termination.
7.2 Trademark
Users may not use another party's trademark in a way that is misleading, suggests false affiliation, or violates applicable trademark law. Complaints from trademark holders or authorized representatives will be investigated, and infringing Content will be removed.
